Each Bi-fold is unique and archivally
safe, with black linen fiber cover, burgundy silk
moiré lining, and archival sleeve. Opposite the leaf is a signed certificate
of authenticity (COA) on matte gold or similar premium paper, gold seal embossed with the Historic Bibles, Inc. Seal. Cover is debossed in gold or silver foil: Original Historic Bible Leaf + Verbum Dei Manet Aeternum (= The Word of God Remains Forever) or other wording for special series. Most Bi-folds are 12" x 9". For the largest leaves, 17.5" x 12.5".

  2 CORINTHIANS 5:6-10:4. "The Happy Exchange." [Eng. trans 5:14-21]. Medium-sized manuscript, 7.75" x 5.5", on fine bright-white vellum. Illuminated in Paris, France, c.1240. Full headings and margins, w. 3 scrolling capitals (1 LARGE). SUPERIOR- condition; light wear to outer margin; nice, small repair to outer margin just above VII; transference of repair material to a few words in Ch.5. Still, a fabulous leaf containing an important theological text! SMALLER MANUSCRIPTS are under "Trifold Portfolios".

  ROMANS 9:25-12:17. "The Final Purpose of God". Unusually V. LARGE manuscript, 11.4" x 7.5", dated 1247, hand written and illuminated in red and blue, w. 3 scrolling capitals, from the Johannes Grusch Workshop in Paris, France. Full margins, in Latin gothic script, on finest vellum. EXCELLENT+ condition, w. minute marginal notes in contemporary hand (recto), citing scriptural references. Small pinholes to top and bottom margins (used to hold the mss in place while it is worked on); minor soiling at bottom edge. Truly one of the finest leaves I have ever offered, and arguably the high point of the letter; certainly a central text for Paul's theology. Gold-seal COA opposite on "gold leaf" premium paper, citing Rom 10:4, 9; 11:32; and 12:2 in English trans. Museum-quality Portfolio, 13.5" x 10.5".

  ROMANS 3:19-7:21. "The Faithful-righteousness of God" [Eng trans 3:19-21a]. Medium-size mss, handwritten and illuminated in England or possibly France, c1325-1350; English Textualis (variant IV) based on extended use of 'box' a w. double bow a after e and abbrev i, short descenders p and q, and Uncial d. Lack of ornamentation may indicate Iberian provenance. FINE+ condition; small chip to inner edge (see pics); doodle ("rerum") to upper margin, recto. Full margins. Leaf contains central texts from Paul's most important letter!

  2 MACCABEES 12:11-14:9. "War and Peace". Rare, VERY LARGE handwritten and illuminated in Italy, c.1245, on fine sturdy vellum. EXCELLENT condition; slight ink oxidation on verso. Uncut with very wide margins; shows signs of previous framing (shadows). With 2 scrolling initials. Text depicts the Jewish war with the Selucid King Antiochus IV and its resolution, c.163 BC, giving Israel a very brief respite before the Roman occupation. A wonderful example of an unusually large Bible leaf. COA on premium "gold leaf" paper. Manuscript and COA set in a Larger museum-quality Bifold Portfolio, approx. 13.5" x 10.5".
