1649 King James Bible. Quarto. 9.2″ x 6.8″ x 2.3″. Printed in London by The Company of Stationers, 1649. Reference: Herbert 620. First King James Bible to include marginal notes from the Geneva Bible, thus the “First King James Study Bible.” A/K/A “Fathers” Bible due to a misprint at John 7:32, where “fathers” is printed instead of the correct “Pharisees.” All titles. COMPLETE as intended; no parts missing. RULED-IN-RED throughout. Contents: General Title d. 1649, Introductions (Dedication, To the Reader), Old Testament, [no Apocrapha], New Testament Title d. 1649, New Testament, Tables d. 1649 (Proper Names, Index to Bible), Whole Book of Psalms d.1653). Pages “worn but not torn.” Good margins. Older repairs. Overall clean and ready to use; minor spotting here and there. No end-pages. See all 22 pics [any shadowing in pictures is due to photographic lighting; there are no shadows on the bible itself]. Contemporary suede covers with replaced cloth spine. Tightly bound. General wear, edge scuffs, minor chipping to boards, otherwise strong and sturdy. Internally beautiful and satisfying; still very usable, even if not in the prettiest binding. Bible sets in a grey archival box for safekeeping.
