Description

JEREMIAH 31:6-32:33. “A New Covenant” (31:31). Printed in Basel, Switzerland, by Johann Froben, October 27, 1495. Octavo size: 5.75″ x 4.25″. One of the very earliest printed octavo Bibles, as handy for travel as the popular “pocket bibles” of the 13th century. Reference: Goff B598; GW 4275. Ruled in Red. With 1 hand-painted initial in RED. In EXCELLENT condition (see pics). COA on premium “gold leaf” paper with gold seal and signature. Includes “Origins of the Vulgate Bible” with an English translation of important verses. Text is a prophesy of God’s deliverance of Israel from her Babylonian captivity, and God establishing a New Covenant, unlike the old one which was written on stone but now shall be written on their hearts. A highly significant text for Christians — see close-up in Ch 31. The Promise is translated on the COA.
