ESTHER 1:8-3:5. “Queen Edissa / Esther”. Produced and Illuminated on fine, creamy vellum, in France, c.1240. Uncut, with full headings and margins. Size: 6.5″ x 4.25″. With 2 small initials. In EXCELLENT- condition, minor puckering to lower margin; see pics. COA on premium “gold leaf” paper w. gold seal. A very fine example of a “pocket bible” or traveling Bible. Text from Ch 3 is translated within the “Origins of the Vulgate Bible” opposite the COA. Text shows how Esther, a Jewess, in an ironic turn, became Queen over Persia.
