Text includes the first “Servant Poem” in Ch 42:1-9, and the ever popular “they shall mount up with wings like eagles” in 40:31. Overall, the text continues Isaiah’s powerhouse declaration (starting at 40:1) of the end of Israel’s Exile in Babylon, a turning point in Israel’s history with God as well as her newly articulated vocation, as the Lord’s servant, to become a “light to the nations” (42:6) . For smaller incunabula leaves, see the several Biblia Sacra under “Bifold Portfolio”.
