This rare edition is the FIRST of Koberger’s Bibles, the FIRST Bible printed in Nuremburg, the 18th printed Latin Bible, and the 23rd printed Bible — ever! Only 104 copies of this Bible are recorded extant!!
Text includes the first “Servant Poem” in Ch 42:1-9, and the ever popular “they shall mount up with wings like eagles” in 40:31. Overall, the text continues Isaiah’s powerhouse declaration (starting at 40:1) of the end of Israel’s Exile in Babylon, a turning point in Israel’s history with God as well as her newly articulated vocation, as the Lord’s servant, to become a “light to the nations” (42:6) .
