The FIRST Black Letter Quarto edition of the King James Bible, a “close reprint” (Herbert) to the 1611 FIRST EDITION/FIRST ISSUE folio “He” variant. Reference: Herbert 323. Apart from the 1611 folio editio princepts, this fragment is the only Black Letter edition that comes close to representing the FIRST PRINTING “He” issue of the King James Bible [containing the “he” error in Ruth 3:15 and may other first readings], and the LAST edition ever to do so. In FINE condition overall. Full headings and margins; some moderate staining and soiling, but no tears (see pics). COA title leaf bound in front. Rebound using period leather covers, textured, dark brown, and flyleaves using period KJ folio leaves. Leaves: 8.25″ x 6.0″. Overall book size 8.5″ x 7″ x .8″. This 1613 “He” variant “fragment” of a celebrated edition of the King James Bible shows the original state of the text, as close as possible to the first 1611 folio “He” edition. A complete edition in the same condition would sell for about $4500.
