Description
ECCLESIASTES 2:15b-5:7a. “For Everything a Season” (see Ch 3). Also known as Qoheleth in Hebrew (in Greek: Ecclesiastes), literally translated in English as The Preacher or The Speaker. Produced and Illuminated on fine, creamy vellum, in Italy, c.1250. Uncut, with full headings and margins (pics tend to cut the top edge, but the head lines ECC and STE are completely there with room to spare). Size: 7.25″ x 5.0″. With 5 large initials (4 scrolling alongside the columns, 1 non scrolling), with 81 smaller initials throughout, in Red and Blue. In EXCELLENT condition, the edges showing a bit of age; see pics. COA on premium “gold leaf” paper w. gold seal. A very fine example, with a superb text, very popular, of a “pocket bible” or traveling Bible. Text in Ch 3 is translated within the “Origins of the Vulgate Bible” opposite the COA. Notable is the punch line in 3:11, that GOD wills the various “times” of human activity (see numerous “T” initials in Ch 3) in order that no human being can ferret out the purposes of God on a daily basis. A fabulous leaf in every respect! Manuscript and COA are set in a museum-quality Trifold Portfolio. For larger manuscripts, see the “Bifold Portfolios” category.
