DEUTERONOMY 1:7-2:22. “From Horeb to Caanan: Giving of the Land”. Rare, V. LARGE MSS leaf. 11.8″ x 8.2″, produced in Paris at, or in the manner of, the famous Johannes Grusch Workshop, c.1250-1275. Rubricated throughout, with 1 nicely drawn initial in RED and BLUE with scrolling artwork top to bottom, on very fine vellum. Scribal correction in margin “nos” (us), likely a confusion from two lines earlier. Text is exceedingly important as the giving of the Land of Caanan to the Istaelites is explicitly stated, as well as the terms of conquest. EXCELLENT Condition; crease at lower corner. COA on premium “gold leaf” paper. Leaf and COA set in a museum quality Portfolio approx. 13″ x 10″.
The majority of manuscripts are of smaller size, about 6″ x 4″, and are found under the Trifold Portfolio Category.
