Description
JOB 33:6-38:15. “God Speaks Out of the Whirlwind” (38:1-13). Rare, medium sized mss. 8.75″ x 6.5″. Handwritten and illuminated in Oxford, England, c. 1250. With 5 Chapter numbers and 4 chapter initials initials in Red and Blue. Oddly missing an initial at ch 38; ch XXXVII is alongside what we now know as 36:32; and ch 38 is mis-marked as 39 (XXXXVIIII is a normal way of doing 39, the error noted by a scribe w. the superscript “9”); doodles to bottom margin, recto. FINE+ condition; uniformly soiled, lightly (see pics). COA on premium “gold leaf” paper. Text contains the famous “Whirlwind” speech from God to Job, calling him to account before the majesty of God. Note: the majority of manuscripts are of smaller size, about 6″ x 4″, and are found under the Trifold Portfolio Category.
