JOB 33:6-38:15. “God Speaks Out of the Whirlwind” (38:1-13). Rare, medium sized mss. 8.75″ x 6.5″. Handwritten and illuminated in Oxford, England, c. 1250. With 5 Chapter numbers and 4 chapter initials initials in Red and Blue. Full margins. Oddly missing an initial at ch 38; ch 37 [=XXXVII] is alongside what we now know as 36:32; and ch 38 is miss-marked as 34 (XXXIIII), the error (which should read XXXVIII) being noted by a scribe w. the superscript “9”; doodles to bottom margin, recto. FINE condition; uniformly soiled, stains to upper and outer margins (see pics). COA on premium “gold leaf” paper. Text contains the famous “Whirlwind” speech from God to Job, calling him to account before the majesty of God.
