Description
DANIEL 11:17-12:13. “Resurrection!” (12:2). FIRST EDITION. Great “She” Bible variant. Printed in 1611, published 1611-1613, in London, by Robert Barker. Herbert 319. This leaf, being a printer’s “correction” (spelling and woodcut variations), is slightly distinct from the 1611 “He” variant, and distinct from all other folio editions. FINE+ condition (see pics), with one (1) WOODCUT initial. 15.25″ x 10.0″. COA on premium “gold leaf” paper w. signature and seal. Leaf and COA set in a museum-quality Archival Booklet. This important leaf, written c.164 BCE, contains the single written verse in the OT that promises life-after-death (12:2), being understood after Jesus’ resurrection as fulfilled in him. Apart from this verse, resurrection as a future promise was believed in the first century by Pharisees (priests beloved by the masses) but not by Sadducees (priests who garnered their power via the required Temple services, as well as their collaboration with Rome). Although “resurrection” meant the resurrection of everyone at once, as here, Jesus’ singular resurrection meant that “the end of the ages” had already begun. Price includes Priority Shipping.
