Description

JOB 36:28-39:3. “God’s Secret Works” (Ch. 38). FIRST EDITION. Great “She” Bible variant. Printed in 1611, published/titled 1611-1613, in London, by Robert Barker. Herbert 319. This leaf, being a printer’s “correction” (spelling, spacing, and woodcut variations), is slightly distinct from the 1611 “He” variant, and distinct from all other folio editions. FINE+ condition; crease to lower corner; imprint/smudge to lower margin, recto (see pics); with three (3) WOODCUT initials. 15.25″ x 10.0″. This leaf is almost identical to a “He” variant; only one word spelled differently, in the intro to Ch 38. COA on premium “gold leaf” paper w. signature and seal. Leaf and COA set in a museum-quality Archival Booklet. This semi-premium leaf reminds Job and his friends (and us) of the power of God in creation “beyond human understanding” where God speaks “out of the whirlwind” 38:1-3), with the strong implication that Job’s trials and tribulations are overseen by God.
