Publisher, Gerard de Jode. Uncut engraving on ageing laid paper, 10″ x 8.25″, full margins 13.5″ x 10.75.” Apparent “waviness” in margins (see picture) does not affect the colored plate. This magnificent though violent engraving depicts scenes from Matthew 2, Herod’s attempt to kill the newborn King of the Jews.
