Plate 2 of 4 in the Series “The Story of Gideon.” Conceptual Artist: M. de Vos. Engraver: G. de Jode, or possibly H. Muller. Publisher: G. de Jode. Reference: New Hollstein 88.2 (de Vos). Image is unmounted on laid paper, 10.2″ x 7.5″; with full margins, 13.4″ x 10.75″. A clear and sharp impression. Small brown spot at upper left quadrant; lightly toned around edges; older repairs to two small closed cuts, bottom edge (see pics). A fine example of Netherlandish engraving in its heyday, nicely detailed with several scenes in foreground and background; the scene taken from Judges 6.
