One of the very earliest printed octavo Bibles, as handy for travel as the popular “pocket bibles” of the 13th century. Reference: Goff B598; GW 4275. Ruled in Red. With 4 hand-painted initials in RED and BLUE. FINE condition; small hole at bottom line (see pics). COA on premium “gold leaf” paper with gold seal and signature. Includes “Origins of the Vulgate Bible” with an English translation of important verses. Text expresses Paul’s classic understanding of the gospel “good news” as God’s working out, in history, through Israel and Israel’s Messiah, of his purpose for creation, namely to bring about the “obedience which is faith” (1:5).
