Plate 4 of 4 in the Series “The Story of Gideon.” Conceptual Artist: M. de Vos. Engraver: G. de Jode, or possibly H. Muller. Publisher: G. de Jode. Reference: New Hollstein 90.2 (de Vos). Image is unmounted on laid paper, 10.2″ x 7.25″; with fill margins, 13″ x 10.5″. A clear and sharp impression. Older repair to small closed cut, bottom edge; smudge to upper corner of marginal edge (see pics). A fine example of Netherlandish engraving in its heyday, nicely detailed with foreground and background scenes; the scene taken from Judges 7.
