Engraver: Herman Muller (signature) a/k/a Harmen Muller. Publisher: Gerard de Jode (signature). Reference: New Hollstein 36.2 (Muller). Image cut to plate and pasted onto heavier laid paper, 11.0″ x 7.8″; full margins 13″ x 10″. A clean and sharp and bold impression, highly detailed, lightly “washed” to simulate antiquity (a normal process); thin broken line from Jesus’ left arm to bottom of plate. Note: “wavy” paper on margins is not evident on the plate. Note: “smudge” next to Harmen Muller’s signature is a feature of the original plate, not an error to this print. A fine example of Netherlandish engraving in its heyday, highly detailed. The scene is from the story in Matthew 19, Mark 10, Luke 18.
